Northern South Park layout: where the parks and trails actually land

A new proposed layout sketch for Northern South Park puts the park exaction areas, paths, and block pattern on one page, the kind of map that will drive real-world maintenance and access questions later.

If you want to know what Northern South Park will feel like on the ground, this is the page that matters: the County posted a one-sheet map showing the proposed block pattern, park/open space pieces, and trail connections for the north end of the project. See the Northern South Park Proposed Layout Attachment.

My rancher takeaway is simple: lines on these maps turn into fences, snowplow routes, ditch crossings, and HOA bills. The way the parks and greenways are shaped and where they touch the streets will decide whether they function as true public space, or end up as leftover landscape strips that somebody still has to mow, irrigate, and maintain.
