Teton County sets June 16 hearing on FY27 trash, C&D and tire fee changes
The Teton County Commission voted April 7 to start a 45-day public comment period on proposed FY2027 Integrated Solid Waste & Recycling fees, with a June 16 public hearing and a planned July 1 effective date.
Teton County commissioners voted April 7 to begin the required 45-day public comment process on proposed FY2027 fees for the county’s Trash Transfer Station, Recycling Center and Household Hazardous Waste program, setting a public hearing for June 16. The proposal is intended to keep Integrated Solid Waste & Recycling (ISWR) operating as a self-funded enterprise fund amid rising costs and contract escalators, according to a staff report in the meeting packet (Board Meeting Fee Adoption Packet).
The proposed changes include a $1-per-ton increase for landfill-bound municipal solid waste (MSW) to $153/ton (about 7.7 cents per pound) and a larger jump for construction and demolition waste to $162/ton (up $10). Tire fees would also rise, including passenger/light-truck tires up to 17 inches from $9 to $10, and the bulk tire rate from $470/ton to $500/ton. Most household hazardous waste per-item/per-gallon fees listed in the comparison table show no change.
The packet’s draft resolution states the fees would take effect July 1, 2026 if adopted after the June hearing. Written comments can be submitted to ISWR Superintendent Becky Kiefer at rkiefer@tetoncountywy.gov, and the county’s notice lists additional information at the ISWR office (3270 S. Adams Canyon Road) and on the county public comment webpage (Board Meeting Fee Adoption Packet).
