Jackson adopts annual permits (and fees) for downtown parklets
Jackson Town Council approved a parklet ordinance April 13 that switches encroachment permits to annual issuance and annual fee payment, while keeping the seasonal operating window (Apr. 30–Oct. 30). The change is now in the municipal code.
The Jackson Town Council voted April 13 to finalize changes to the town’s parklet encroachment-permit program, switching permits (and related fee payment) to an annual cycle.
Ordinance A amends Town Code Chapter 12.10 so that “permits shall be issued annually,” and clarifies that each permit only authorizes parklet operation from April 30 to Oct. 30 each year, with the permit terminating Oct. 30. The ordinance was presented as the second reading at the council’s April 13 special meeting.
In the staff report, town staff said council had already debated the policy at its March 16 meeting and directed the shift to annual payments; staff described the April 13 ordinance as matching the amendment previously approved by council and noted no fiscal impact from the ordinance itself.
