Teton commissioners to appoint Neubecker interim building official April 21
At its April 21 meeting, the Teton County Board of Commissioners is set to appoint Planning Director Chris Neubecker as interim building official after Richard “Cody” Fisher resigned effective April 16.
Teton County’s Board of County Commissioners is scheduled to appoint Planning & Building Services Director Chris Neubecker as the county’s interim building official at its April 21 meeting, following the resignation of Building Official Richard “Cody” Fisher effective April 16. The appointment would take effect April 21 and last until a permanent building official is appointed or the board rescinds the resolution. The staff report says the role is required under the 2024 International Building Code and International Residential Code, and that maintaining a formally appointed building official helps keep permits, inspections, code interpretations and enforcement actions “valid and legally defensible.” Under the proposed interim structure, Neubecker would provide local “signature authority” for documents including building permits, certificates of occupancy and enforcement notices. West Coast Code Consultants (WC-3) would continue to provide certified building official services for technical code interpretation, plan review support and complex enforcement issues, while county building inspectors continue inspections, according to the packet. Staff told commissioners the interim appointment is not expected to have a fiscal impact and would avoid added costs that could come with outsourcing administrative sign-off work.
