Teton commissioners to sign WYDOT acceptance for Hoback fire-station parcel

On April 21, the Teton County Commission is set to approve an agreement accepting a 1.60-acre WYDOT right-of-way parcel by the Hoback roundabout for a future fire station, clearing the request for a May Wyoming Transportation Commission vote and subsequent design RFP.

Teton County’s Board of County Commissioners is scheduled to vote April 21 on an agreement accepting a 1.60-acre Wyoming Department of Transportation right-of-way parcel on the east side of the Hoback Junction roundabout for a future Hoback fire station, according to the county’s agenda packet. If approved, the chair would sign WYDOT’s “Agreement of Acceptance,” a step required for WYDOT to advance the relinquishment request. County staff says WYDOT has already obtained State Historic Preservation Office and environmental clearance for the transfer area. After the county signs the agreement, WYDOT staff is expected to take the request to the Wyoming Transportation Commission at its May meeting; if the commission approves, WYDOT would record the parcel. The station’s total project cost was estimated at about $7.8 million to $10 million in a 2024 feasibility study, staff reports, and the county’s 2022 SPET included $15 million for planning, design and construction of a new station in Hoback and/or Wilson and demolition of existing station(s). After the Transportation Commission’s action, Fire/EMS plans to work with Wember Inc. to issue an RFP for design and architectural services.
