Teton County to add snow-melt at new Justice Center entrance via $216,714 change order

The Teton County Board of County Commissioners is scheduled April 21 to vote on a $216,714 change order adding snow-melt to the Justice Center’s main public stairs and ADA ramp along King Street, funded from the project’s owner contingency.

Teton County commissioners are scheduled to consider approving Owner Change Order 001 for the new Justice Center construction project at their April 21 meeting. The change order would add a snow-melt system to the concrete public access stairs and the accessible (ADA) ramp along the King Street side of the building. According to county staff, the goal is to improve year-round visitor safety by reducing ice and snow buildup at the primary public access points (Justice Center Snow Melt Change Order Packet).

The change order totals $216,714 and would be paid from the project’s owner contingency budget, raising the contract value with DPR/GE Johnson to $92,736,045, with no change to the project schedule shown in the change order (Justice Center Snow Melt Change Order Packet).

The staff report says the snow-melt scope corresponds to bid alternates that were not included when the project’s guaranteed maximum price was finalized, but were later re-evaluated for “operational and safety benefits” while the work could still be integrated efficiently into the construction contract (Justice Center Snow Melt Change Order Packet).
