Teton commissioners expand Hi-Country Water District to include two “oversight” areas

On April 7, the Teton County Board of County Commissioners approved a petition to enlarge the Hi-Country Water District to include Larry’s Subdivision and the Krasnow Parcel, areas already receiving district water but never formally mapped into the district.

Teton County commissioners voted April 7 to approve a petition enlarging the Hi-Country Water District to add two areas that have long been connected to district water service but were never formally included in the district boundaries: Larry’s Subdivision and the “Krasnow Parcel” within the Hi-Country Subdivision. The petition is described as correcting a mapping/paperwork oversight dating back to the 1980s. (Hi-Country Water District Staff Report)

County Clerk Maureen Murphy’s staff report says the clerk’s office reviewed the petition signatures and found them to meet the statutory requirements for a boundary change under Wyoming’s Water and Sewer District Act. The report notes that the district is a water district (with septic handled by individual homes) and that there have been ongoing discussions about potential future connection to the Town of Jackson sewer system via agreement or annexation, but the April 7 action was limited to the water district boundary correction. Before the board signs a final order, the district must submit a map of the proposed boundary change to the Wyoming Department of Revenue and the Teton County Assessor for approval, according to the suggested motion in the staff report.
