Teton commissioners approve $265,504 materials-testing contract for Justice Center

On April 7, Teton County commissioners approved a $265,503.80 agreement with Nelson Engineering for required third‑party construction materials testing and inspection for the new Justice Center.

Teton County’s Board of County Commissioners on April 7 approved a $265,503.80 “materials testing and inspection” agreement for the new Teton County Justice Center, a step staff said is required by the project’s building permit. The contract is with Jackson-based Nelson Engineering, according to the attached agreement.

In a staff report, General Services said third‑party testing is standard for major construction and will include items such as concrete testing, soil density testing, and inspection of structural steel connections and welding, among other building-code-driven requirements. The report cites International Building Code requirements and design-team specifications as the basis for the testing scope.

The staff report’s purpose section refers to “Jorgenson Engineering,” but the recommendation, suggested motion, and the signed agreement identify Nelson Engineering as the consultant. Funding for the full amount is budgeted in the Justice Center project line item (#54-4-054-904-000).
