Teton County opens comment on FY27 transfer station fee increases

On April 7, the Teton County Board of County Commissioners advanced proposed FY2027 solid-waste fees for a 45-day public comment period, with a public hearing set for June 16.

Teton County commissioners on April 7 moved forward with a 45-day public comment period on proposed FY2027 fees for the Trash Transfer Station, Recycling Center and Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) program, with staff planning to begin advertising April 10. The public hearing is scheduled for June 16 at 9 a.m. in the Teton County Administration Building. (Board Meeting Fee Adoption Packet)

The fee proposal is framed as part of keeping Integrated Solid Waste & Recycling (ISWR) self-funded as an enterprise operation while covering rising costs; staff noted many multi-year contracts include annual escalators in the 2%–6% range and said the FY2027 budget reflects an overall 11% increase. Among the larger line-item changes shown in the FY26-to-FY27 comparison: construction and demolition waste would rise from $152/ton to $162/ton (+6.58%); tires up to 17 inches would go from $9 to $10 each (+11.11%); and the tire bulk rate would increase from $470/ton to $500/ton (+6.38%). Most other listed transfer-station, recycling and HHW fees were proposed as unchanged or bumped slightly (e.g., landfill-bound trash/MSW from $152/ton to $153/ton).
