Teton County set June 16 hearing on proposed FY27 Transfer Station fee hikes

After opening a 45-day comment period starting April 10, commissioners will hold a June 16 public hearing on proposed FY2027 fees for the Trash Transfer Station, recycling, and HHW programs, including higher construction-and-demolition and tire charges.

Teton County commissioners moved ahead April 7 with a 45-day public comment process (advertising beginning April 10) for proposed FY2027 fees at the county’s Trash Transfer Station, Recycling Center and Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) facility. The board is scheduled to take public testimony and consider adoption at a June 16 public hearing during its regular 9 a.m. meeting at 200 S. Willow St., according to the county’s notice and fee packet. (See: Board Meeting Fee Adoption Packet.)

The biggest proposed changes highlighted in the packet include an increase for construction-and-demolition waste from $152/ton to $162/ton (about 6.6%), an increase for tires up to 17 inches from $9 to $10 each (11.1%), and an increase to the tire bulk rate from $470/ton to $500/ton (about 6.4%). Landfill-bound trash/MSW would rise slightly from $152/ton to $153/ton, while many recycling and HHW fees are shown as unchanged.

ISWR staff said the division operates as a self-funded enterprise fund and is seeking fee adjustments to keep pace with rising costs and contract escalators; the FY2027 budget reflects an overall 11% increase. Written comments can be submitted to ISWR Superintendent Becky Kiefer at rkiefer@tetoncountywy.gov, and additional information is posted through the county’s public-comment portal referenced in the packet.
