Jackson DRC reviewed final design for 32-unit Virginian Lodge Apartments

On April 8, Jackson’s Design Review Committee took up final design review for the 32-unit Virginian Lodge Apartments at 750 W. Broadway, after earlier continuing the project in January and reviewing revisions in March.

Jackson’s Design Review Committee (DRC) reviewed the final design for the Virginian Lodge Apartments, a proposed 32-unit, four-building apartment project at 750 W. Broadway, during its April 8 meeting. The project (zoned CR-3) proposes four two-story buildings (just under 22 feet tall) arranged in a west-facing U-shape, with eight units per building (six ~340-sf one-bedrooms and two ~850-sf two-bedrooms) for roughly 15,000 square feet of new floor area on the 7.79-acre Virginian Lodge site. See the staff report and application materials in the Design Review Committee Agenda Packet.

The April 8 submittal reflects revisions prompted by the DRC’s Jan. 14 continuation and March 11 conceptual feedback, including reorienting the two western buildings to create a defined courtyard/green space, moving second-level stair access into the courtyard, and refining landscaping buffers between parking and residential entries. Staff said the design generally complies with the CR-3 zone, while noting the separate Development Plan review was still underway when the packet was published. Background on the revisions is also summarized in the March conceptual packet: Design Review Committee Meeting Agenda Packet.
