Lodging tax board to vote on $150K for 2027 Native Voices & Teton Powwow
The Jackson Hole Travel & Tourism Joint Powers Board meets April 9 to consider $150,000 in “signature event” lodging-tax support for the 2027 Native Voices & Teton Powwow, with organizers projecting 7,000 attendees May 5–8, 2027.
The Jackson Hole Travel & Tourism Joint Powers Board is scheduled to vote Thursday, April 9 on a $150,000 “signature event” lodging-tax request for the 2027 Native Voices & Teton Powwow, a four-day slate of Indigenous cultural programming set for May 5–8, 2027.
In a presentation to the board, organizers describe an expanded event footprint that would include a Native American author talk, Wind River cultural presentations, museum and gallery openings, and a Saturday powwow and Native American art market. The presentation projects 7,000 total attendees across components of the week, including a projected 3,500 for the powwow day alone, plus 2,400 tied to museum/gallery programming. Organizers also include a year-by-year attendance growth table and note prior board support levels rising from $50,000 to $100,000, with $150,000 requested for 2027. See: Native Voices and Teton Powwow Event Presentation.
The board’s funding worksheet lists the request as $150,000 for May 5–8, 2027, and identifies Central Wyoming College as the producing entity for the event. The same worksheet shows $100,000 previously funded for Native Voices and the Teton Powwow within the signature-events program. See: TTB Funding Requests and Awards Financial Report.
The item is expected to come as part of the board’s broader April 9 agenda. See: Lodging Tax Board Meeting Agenda.
