JH Travel & Tourism Board adopts amended bylaws enabling direct staff oversight

Minutes show the Jackson Hole Travel & Tourism Board voted 6-0 on March 12 to approve a bylaws amendment, part of its transition toward a staffed destination marketing/management organization. The change is intended to clarify governance and enable hiring/oversight of employees.

The Jackson Hole Travel & Tourism Board (JHTTB) approved an updated bylaws package in a 6-0 vote at its March 12 meeting, adopting the “JHTTB Bylaws Amendment” as presented by staff. The action passed with no public comment, and minutes note the bylaws language was unchanged from the board’s prior discussion in February. (Board Meeting Minutes)

While the final bylaws text is not included in the minutes themselves, earlier board materials tie the amendment to a larger governance shift: moving toward a model where the board can hire, oversee and, if needed, terminate staff as it builds out a destination marketing/management organization (DMMO). That topic was discussed as part of DMMO “establishment and next steps” work in late 2025, including board direction to seek changes to foundational language that had limited the board’s ability to directly hire and fire employees. At the March 12 meeting, the board also took related operational steps consistent with staffing up: it authorized opening a dedicated payroll account and obtaining a separate employer identification number (EIN) for payroll reporting and filings. (Regular Meeting Minutes)
