Teton County commissioners are scheduled April 7 to approve a petition enlarging the Hi-Country Water District to include Larry’s Subdivision and the “Krasnow Parcel” in Hi-Country Subdivision — properties the county clerk says were overlooked in 1980s-era boundary paperwork even though they are already connected to and served by the district’s water system. The action is framed as a boundary correction that brings maps and records into line with existing service on the ground, rather than an expansion of water infrastructure or a change in operations.
In a staff report, County Clerk Maureen Murphy says her office reviewed the petition signatures and found they meet statutory requirements. The report cites Wyoming Statute 41-10-210, which allows boundary changes so long as they do not impair the district’s organization or obligations. Septic service remains handled individually by each home; the report also notes ongoing discussions about whether the surrounding Town of Jackson could eventually extend sewer service to the area through an agreement or annexation.
Before the commissioners sign a final order approving the enlargement, the district would be required to submit a map of the proposed boundary change to the Wyoming Department of Revenue and the Teton County Assessor for approval, according to the suggested motion in the staff report.
