Teton BCC to end $1 Yellow Building lease April 17, allow shed storage to June 30
At its April 7 meeting, the Teton County Commission will consider ending the Community Foundation’s $1 lease at 245 E. Simpson early (effective April 17) and allowing temporary storage in an on-site shed through June 30.
The Teton County Board of County Commissioners is scheduled April 7 to approve an early termination of a $1 lease at 245 E. Simpson St. (the “Yellow Building”) and to authorize temporary storage in an on-site shed through June 30. The county bought the property from the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole on Dec. 30, 2025, then leased it back to the foundation so the seller could move. The original short-term lease was set to run through June 15. (245 E. Simpson Temporary Storage Staff Report)
According to the staff report, the foundation notified the county April 1 that it will vacate the building on April 17 and no longer needs the lease through June 15. The action item asks commissioners to accept that request and approve a “Temporary Storage Acknowledgment” allowing the foundation to keep items in the property’s storage shed until June 30. (245 E. Simpson Temporary Storage Staff Report)
Staff report a fiscal impact of none, noting the lease payment is $1. The report does not state the county’s next planned use for the building after April 17. (245 E. Simpson Temporary Storage Staff Report)
