Teton BCC to adopt May 1 policy updates: telework, housing, and new AI rules
On April 7, 2026, Teton County commissioners are set to approve 2026 Policy Manual amendments effective May 1, including updates to telework and employee-housing rules and adding new IT policies for data governance and AI security.
Teton County’s Board of County Commissioners is scheduled April 7 to adopt amendments to the county’s 2026 Policy Manual, with the changes taking effect May 1 for all departments, according to an HR staff report and redlined manual packet. The update follows seven Policy Committee meetings in 2025 and a Jan. 5 workshop that previewed many of the edits. (Teton County Staff Report and Policy Manual Amendments)
Among the changes flagged for commissioners are updates to the county’s telework policy (Section 4-17) and employee-housing policies (Section 4-18), including rules on how long employees may remain in county housing after separating from employment and how quickly involuntary separations must vacate. The packet also includes additional housing-program policy edits that were still being refined at the January workshop, and are now brought forward for adoption. A major new component is the addition of IT governance and security sections—including IT Remote Access, Data Governance, Artificial Intelligence Security, Patch Management, Change Management and Privileged Access—formalizing expectations around remote access, data handling and system-administration controls as the county updates its cybersecurity posture. The staff report says the amendments have no direct fiscal impact but will require rollout time and signed acknowledgements from employees. (Teton County Staff Report and Policy Manual Amendments)
