Teton commissioners to vote on $265,504 Justice Center materials-testing contract
On April 7, the Teton County Board of Commissioners is set to approve a $265,503.80 contract for third-party materials testing and special inspections for the new Justice Center, work required by the building permit and International Building Code.
Teton County commissioners will consider approving a $265,503.80 agreement for third-party materials testing and inspections tied to construction of the new Teton County Justice Center, according to the April 7 staff report. County staff say the work is a standard requirement of the project’s building permit and is driven by International Building Code (IBC) “special inspection” requirements and the project design team’s specifications. The testing scope includes items such as concrete, soil density, and structural steel connections and welding. (Justice Center Staff Report and Contract Attachment)
The staff report describes the contract as authorizing Nelson Engineering to provide the testing and inspection services in support of the Justice Center project. The agreement sets an anticipated fee of $265,503.80, with the final total to be adjusted if the number of inspections differs from what’s assumed in the contract’s pricing schedule; the consultant must notify the county before exceeding the planned number of inspections. The contract term would begin April 7, 2026 and run through completion of the services. (Justice Center Staff Report and Contract Attachment)
Funding is proposed from the Justice Center budget line item #54-4-054-904-000. County General Services staff indicate they will administer the agreement alongside the owner’s representative Wember and construction partners GE Johnson/DPR. (Justice Center Staff Report and Contract Attachment)
