Lodging tax board to weigh $23,750 geology audio-tour grant for GTNP road

The Jackson Hole Travel & Tourism Board meets April 9 to review a $23,750 “Community Partnership” request to build a free, geo-located geology audio tour along GTNP’s Outer Park Road. The applicant says success will be measured via app downloads and user analytics.

The Jackson Hole Travel & Tourism Board (Lodging Tax Board) is scheduled to review a Q4 “Community Partnership” application on April 9 for an “Outer Park Road of Grand Teton National Park – Geology Tour,” a proposed free, geo-located audio tour for the TravelStorysGPS app along the Jackson-to-Moran route. The item is listed as a discussion item on the board’s April 9 agenda. Lodging Tax Board Meeting Agenda

According to the application, Teton Geological Services is requesting $23,750 (listed as 92% of the overall project budget) to produce a roughly 30-minute tour with “ten geo-located audio points,” developed in partnership with TravelStorysGPS and the Geologists of Jackson Hole. The project start/end dates are listed as April 1–June 30, 2026. Community Partnerships Funding Application Attachment

The applicant says it would measure success primarily through TravelStorysGPS analytics (views, downloads and user profile data). The application notes that popular TravelStorysGPS tours range from about 1,000 to 40,000 users annually (with an average cited at 6,700) and says the board would receive an analytics plug-in to track usage. The board’s agenda packet posted in the county system does not include a staff recommendation or draft motion for this request, so any funding amount and conditions (if approved) will be set by the board at the meeting. Lodging Tax Board Meeting Agenda
