Teton County to open comment on FY27 transfer-station fee changes

On April 7, the Teton County Commission is set to start a 45-day public-comment period (ads begin April 10) on proposed FY2027 fee changes for the Trash Transfer Station, commercial cardboard program and HHW disposal, with a hearing noticed for June 16.

Teton County commissioners on April 7 will consider authorizing a 45-day public-comment period on proposed FY2027 fee changes for the county’s Trash Transfer Station, Recycling Center and Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) program, according to an ISWR staff report. Advertising is slated to begin April 10, and the public hearing is noticed for June 16. See: Consideration of 45-day Public Comment Period for FY2027 Fees.

The proposal includes small increases for most transfer-station tip fees, including landfill-bound trash from $152 to $153 per ton (about 7.7 cents per pound) and construction-and-demolition waste from $152 to $162 per ton (about 8 cents per pound). Tire pricing would also rise: up to 17-inch tires from $9 to $10 each, and the bulk tire rate from $470 to $500 per ton. The minimum fee would remain $10. For businesses using the county’s commercial cardboard service, proposed monthly rates would rise about 2% across container sizes and pickup frequencies. Example: a 4-yard container with 2 pickups per week would increase from $159 to $163 per month; an 8-yard container with 4 pickups per week would rise from $608 to $620 per month. The staff report says ISWR is a self-funded enterprise fund and is proposing fee adjustments to keep pace with rising costs, including multi-year contract escalators (2–6%) and an overall FY2027 budget increase of 11%.
