Jackson Town Council voted April 6 to adopt Resolution 26-04 updating the town’s parklet permit fee schedule, shifting from a flat $3,500 annual fee per parklet to a per-space charge of $2,000 for each on-street parking space a parklet occupies, effective April 7. The change follows the council’s March 16 direction to continue the program and move to a per-parking-space model. (Town Council Regular Meeting Agenda; Town Council Regular Meeting Agenda Packet)
In the staff report, the town said the parklet program has been generating about $28,000 per year under the flat-rate structure ($3,500 × eight parklets). Under the new per-space schedule, staff estimated fees would total about $36,000 per year if all eight participating restaurants return and use the same number of parking spaces as last year. The underlying program rules adopted in 2023 remain in the municipal code (Chapter 12.10), including the requirement to obtain an encroachment permit before operating a parklet in the public right-of-way. The March 2026 “parklet check-in” staff report notes the current season window has been April 30 to Oct. 30, with applications, inspections (including Public Works and Fire/EMS), and fee payment required before permits are issued each year.
