Library board tracks outreach kiosk plan and new outreach librarian role

At its March 19 meeting, the Teton County Library Board reviewed strategic-plan progress that includes a Wilson-area library kiosk still awaiting an opening timeline and an outreach librarian role and library van marked as completed.

Teton County Library’s board reviewed implementation metrics tied to its current Strategic Direction (2023–2027) at its March 19 regular meeting, with outreach projects a prominent focus. The board’s agenda set aside time for a “Library Strategic Direction” status update and next steps. (Library Board Meeting Agenda)

In the progress metrics report, several outreach deliverables were marked “completed,” including creation of an Outreach Librarian position (noted as a transition of an interlibrary-loan librarian into the outreach role) and acquisition of a library vehicle/van for outreach and delivery, with work ongoing to outfit and wrap the van. The report also notes the library’s “Library Table on West Bank” was discontinued after low usage. (Strategic Plan Progress Data Metrics Report)

One item still effectively on hold: a proposed library kiosk at a Wilson-area site intended for holds pickup, a small popular collection, and returns. The metrics report says staff identified a kiosk location in a meeting with Parks & Recreation, but the kiosk is in storage and “anticipated opening TBD,” with capital reserve funds expected to complete the project and a note that collection services will need a couple months’ notice before opening. The strategic plan presentation frames outreach and “re-imagining how and where library services are delivered” as part of the plan’s Community priority, alongside goals around inclusion and partnerships. (Library Board Strategic Plan Presentation)
