Library Board to approve March 19 vouchers amid over-budget collections lines

On March 19, the Teton County Library Board is scheduled to approve voucher payments and review February financials showing library books and media lines already over annual budgets.

The Teton County Library Board of Directors meets March 19 and is scheduled to approve payment of library vouchers (the agenda’s draft motion leaves the total blank) after reviewing a staff “financial narrative” and February county finance reports. See the meeting agenda: Library Board Meeting Agenda.

The February expenditure report included in the packet shows two collections-related lines exceeding their full-year appropriations as of Feb. 28: “Library Books” at $76,696.57 spent on a $73,850 budget (103.85% used) and “Library Media” at $36,936.17 on a $27,900 budget (132.39% used). The same report shows the library’s “Capital Reserve Fund” line at $50,000 spent on a $50,000 budget (100% used) as of Feb. 28. See: Teton County Library Financial Report.

Other operating lines in the report show substantial year-to-date usage as well — including janitorial services (Jackson) at 54.95% of budget, utilities (Jackson) at 56.23%, and equipment leases at 56.61% — which board members may weigh as they discuss budget pressures and any corrective steps outlined in the staff narrative during the meeting.
