Jackson OKs two weekday 15-minute parking spots at 105 Mercill Ave

At its March 16 meeting, Jackson’s Town Council authorized two 15-minute on-street spaces on Mercill Avenue near 105 Mercill Ave, limited to weekdays 8 a.m.–6 p.m., to support short-term drop-offs for nearby institutional uses.

Jackson’s Town Council voted March 16 to direct the town manager to install signage and curb markings for two 15-minute on-street parking spaces along Mercill Avenue adjacent to 105 Mercill Ave, between the south entrance to the parking deck and the Mercill/N. Glenwood intersection. The restriction is set for weekdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., per the staff-recommended motion. (Town Council Regular Meeting Agenda Packet)

Town staff framed the request (PM26-010) as a safety and access measure to create short-term drop-off space along a frontage that serves multiple institutional uses, including a daycare (approved by basic use permit in 2023) and nearby children-focused facilities. The authorization is made under municipal code provisions allowing council-directed curb markings and signage. (Town Council Regular Meeting Agenda Packet)

Transportation staff advised that the applicant’s initial preferred location raised “daylighting” and sightline concerns near an alley and the two-way garage ramp, recommending red-curb no-parking buffers around driveways and conflict points and flagging Mercill as a designated truck route. Town engineering estimated the signage/marking cost for the two spaces at about $2,320. (Town Council Regular Meeting Agenda Packet)
