Teton County OKs $184,591 deposit for discounted dispatch-console overhaul

On March 9, county commissioners approved a FY26 budget amendment and 25% deposit to lock in a discounted Motorola Solutions CommandCentral AXS dispatch-console upgrade ahead of a March 16 pricing deadline.

Teton County commissioners voted March 9 to move forward with a major overhaul of the Sheriff’s Office dispatch consoles, approving a FY26 budget amendment and a $184,591.25 deposit to secure discounted pricing for a Motorola Solutions CommandCentral AXS upgrade. The purchase was presented as a time-sensitive offer with pricing held only through March 16. (Board of County Commissioners Meeting Agenda; Sheriff's Office Meeting Agenda Packet)

The packet frames the project as an “end of life” replacement: current dispatch consoles are expected to hit end-of-life around 2030. Staff told commissioners the county could lock in a 2026 promotional price by committing now, with Motorola holding the consoles until the county’s courthouse/dispatch relocation work is complete. Beyond replacing the county’s six existing dispatch positions (four MCC 7500 and two MCC 7500E), the proposal includes two new operator positions to expand capacity, a platform upgrade for supporting equipment, and redundant network equipment to improve resiliency. The proposal also includes replacing a legacy GCP 8000 Conventional Site Controller with a newer DSC 8000 controller as part of the system refresh. (Sheriff's Office Meeting Agenda Packet)
