Town, county extend START’s Driggs bus-storage deal through Oct. 2027

At the March 9 joint meeting, Jackson and Teton County approved a two-year lease extension with the City of Driggs for indoor storage of three START motor coaches at $1,800/month, after the prior sublease had technically lapsed in 2019.

Jackson Town Council and the Teton County Board of Commissioners approved extending START’s indoor bus-storage arrangement in Driggs, Idaho, via a “First Amendment” to the tenant agreement with the City of Driggs. The amendment sets a new term from Nov. 1, 2025 through Oct. 31, 2027 and keeps the monthly rent at $1,800 (plus utilities), unchanged since 2017. START staff told elected officials the sublease for 3,643 square feet at 1420 N. Highway 33 is used to store three “over the road” motor coaches and cleaning equipment supporting commuter service between Teton County, Idaho and Teton County, Wyoming. The city’s master lease for the facility runs through late 2027, and the amendment aligns START’s term with that end date. Facility Lease Agreement for START Bus Storage in Driggs.

The memo also explains why the update was needed: the previous agreement ended Sept. 30, 2019, but the parties continued operating “in good faith” assuming the arrangement was covered under the master lease. Without a formal agreement, START warned it could face higher costs for private indoor storage or potentially have no indoor storage for buses.
