Teton County Library Board to weigh $40K sprinkler-code upgrades March 19
The Teton County Library Board meets March 19 and is asked to approve up to $40,000 from capital reserves to fix sprinkler-head deficiencies flagged in the library’s annual fire-suppression inspection and deemed code-related life-safety items.
The Teton County Library Board of Directors will consider approving up to $40,000 from its Capital Reserve Fund (account 910-000) for fire-suppression/sprinkler upgrades at the Jackson library, according to the March 19 agenda and staff report.
Facilities Maintenance Coordinator Rick Smith said the library’s annual inspection found “several deficiencies with sprinkler head installations.” The scope of work was developed with Mountain Fire Protection and Teton County/Jackson Fire-EMS to bring the facility into compliance with current code; Fire/EMS characterized the items as life-safety and building-protection requirements, though currently “non-critical,” the staff report says.
If the board approves the funding, staff expects the project to be managed internally and to require a request-for-proposals process and contract award. The staff report did not include a detailed schedule or specific work list beyond correcting the identified sprinkler-head deficiencies.
