Lodging Tax Board to pick new director after closed-session interviews
Jackson Hole Travel & Tourism (Lodging Tax) board scheduled March 12 executive session on hiring, then a public vote to “proceed with the outcome discussed” after interviewing four candidates March 11–12.
The Jackson Hole Travel and Tourism Joint Powers Board (Lodging Tax board) scheduled two special meetings March 11–12 to interview four candidates for executive director, then hold an executive session to discuss hiring under Wyoming’s personnel exemption.
According to the March 12 agenda, the board planned to go into executive session pursuant to W.S. §16-4-405(a)(ii) (personnel) for “discussion regarding hiring of Executive Director,” then return to open session for an action item titled “motion to proceed with the outcome discussed in the executive session.” The agenda language does not specify whether that motion would name a finalist, authorize an offer, or set contract terms. The interviews themselves were scheduled in open session: two candidates on March 11 and two on March 12. (Special Meeting Agenda, March 11, 2026)
Separately, the board’s adopted bylaws state the board has the power to hire/fire the executive director, and that the executive director serves as an at-will employee whose salary is set by the board within an adopted salary matrix.
