Teton commissioners approve $23,714 fixes for Justice Center temp offices

On March 3, the Teton County Commission approved Change Order 006 for the Justice Center’s temporary offices, a $23,713.99 package largely aimed at freeze protection and electrical code compliance.

Teton County’s Board of County Commissioners approved Change Order 006 for the Justice Center temporary offices project on March 3, authorizing a $23,713.99 package of fixes under the county’s contract with DPR/GE Johnson. The work is tied to the temporary buildings being used while the new Justice Center is built. (See: Justice Center Staff Report.)

According to the staff report, the biggest line items are additional insulation under the temporary facilities to protect drain/waste/vent piping from freezing ($10,436.02), freeze protection for the domestic water connection between two buildings ($4,667.76), and a rough-in for a potential domestic-water pump to address water-pressure concerns ($4,911.75). The change order also includes $1,626.42 for remote GFCI protection to meet electrical code and $2,072.04 in miscellaneous combined costs.

Several other elements in the package are listed at $0 because they are covered by contractor contingency already included in the guaranteed maximum price, including coordination and expedited shipping for electrical gear, rerouting MEPs that conflict with attic conditions, replacing noncompliant exterior emergency lighting, and repairing an existing mechanical unit, the report says. The $23,713.99 cost is funded through a mix of owner contingency and established contractor contingency. (See: Justice Center Staff Report.)
