Lodging Tax Board votes to open payroll account, get its own EIN

In a Feb. 12 meeting, the Jackson Hole Travel & Tourism Joint Powers Board voted 5-0 to open a dedicated payroll account at First Interstate Bank and obtain a unique EIN for payroll reporting as the board staffs up.

The Jackson Hole Travel & Tourism Joint Powers Board (the lodging tax board) voted 5-0 on Feb. 12 to open a dedicated payroll account at First Interstate Bank and to obtain and use a unique Employer Identification Number (EIN) assigned specifically to the Joint Powers Board for future payroll reporting and federal filings. The motion also authorized staff to add the new EIN to the board’s existing bank accounts.

The change is a governance/operations step that separates the board’s payroll administration from other financial functions as it builds internal staffing capacity. The board took the action with no public comment and without additional discussion recorded in the minutes.

The vote was recorded under an action item titled “Approval to open a payroll account at First Interstate Bank” in the board’s meeting minutes. (Regular Meeting Minutes)
