Jackson awards $822,925 street patching/overlay contract for spring/fall 2026
On March 2, the Jackson Town Council approved awarding its 2026 spring/fall patching and overlay contract to Evans Construction Co. for $822,925, covering patching, overlays and paving some alleys; spring work is funded in FY26, fall in FY27.
The Jackson Town Council voted March 2 to award the town’s 2026 Spring and Fall Patching and Overlay contract (ToJ Project 26-13) to Evans Construction Company of Jackson for $822,925, as part of the town’s annual street-maintenance program, according to the council packet staff report. The contract bundles both the spring window (April 15–May 22, 2026) and fall work (to be completed by Oct. 15, 2026) into one award for efficiency.
The bid was built around target quantities of 50,000 square feet of patching, 50,000 square feet of overlay paving, and 100,000 square feet of alley paving (including paving some currently unpaved alleys to reduce maintenance and improve snowplowing). Staff said the town received three bids Feb. 17, with Evans the lowest responsive bidder ($822,925), ahead of Cook Grading and Paving ($950,775) and Avail Valley Construction ($1,370,290). No chip seal work is proposed this year.
Funding is split across fiscal years: staff reported the spring portion ($304,825) will be paid from FY26 Annual Street Reconstruction funds, while the fall portion ($518,100) will be funded from FY27 Annual Street Reconstruction. If FY27 Annual Street Reconstruction is not funded, the town can voluntarily terminate the contract and “is not obligated to complete that work,” the staff report said.
