Teton commissioners loosen Giltner event cap, tighten noise rules
On Feb. 17, 2026, the Teton County Commission approved changes to the Giltner Outdoor Reception Site permit, allowing one additional amplified nonprofit event annually while adding speaker-direction and expanded monitoring/notice requirements.
Teton County commissioners voted 5-0 on Feb. 17 to approve updates to the conditional use permit for the Giltner Outdoor Reception Site on the Snake River Ranch (CUP2015-0001), a venue off Moose-Wilson Road south of Teton Village. The action came as part of the site’s annual monitoring review (MSC2025-0052). (Giltner Outdoor Reception Site monitoring staff report; Order approving MSC2025-0052)
The biggest change: the permit’s summer limit remains eight events (with no more than six amplified), but the commission also authorized one additional nonprofit event per year that may be amplified—while also specifying that no further nonprofit “extras” will be allowed even if county rules change in the future. Planning staff said a 2025 nonprofit event (119 guests) raised disputes with neighboring homeowners over whether nonprofit events are exempt under current LDR definitions, and the applicant’s Feb. 6 update reflected a negotiated cap. Commissioners also strengthened noise and accountability conditions. Speakers must face north, away from residential areas, at all events; the annual monitoring report deadline was set at Dec. 1; and the report must now include dates/times and event type, a log of complaints and known violations with the ranch’s response, and a forward-looking list of currently scheduled events for the coming year (including which are amplified).
